I have been invited to deliver a paper at a very unexpected venue for me, a conference on so-called exploitation films, more specifically focused on Mark of the Devil and its sequel, Mark of the Devil II.

Gianluigi Gugliermetto has studied philosophy and theology in Italy and the United States, where he also taught for a few years at Woodbury University. He has published essays on North-American theology and interreligious dialogue. In 2008 he recieved his Ph.D. in theology from Claremont Graduate University. He works mostly in Systematic Theology and understands his profession as that of one who helps Christian communities to develop a critical reflection and a deepened approach to their own tradition. Among his present research topics: desire/eros in Christianity, feminist theology, asceticism and mysticism in relation to masculinity. In 2012 he was Visiting Scholar at the Divinity School of the University of Chicago. On May 5, 2016 he has been ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church.
